Below are some of the personal stories we have received
Hello, my name is Sharon Gilbert Hodgson. I was born in Seattle, my father was born in Seattle, my grandfather was born in Pennsyvania/NewYork and came west to Kirkland, Washington with his parents and five brothers and sisters to settle there. My great-grandfather, Elmer Ellsworth Gilbert was a blacksmith and hotelier in Kirkland. I was told that he opened the first hotel there. My Uncle Frank Gilbert used to be captain on the ferry between Seattle (Madison Park) and Kirkland. When I was from 5 to 9 years old, he would let me hoot the whistle. I now live in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England and was interested to see your website. Thanks - it was interesting.
